Time flies when you are having fun

Posted first on September 17, 2008:

I promised to tell how the glassy meet went, didn't I? It was fabulous! We were 6 glassy ladies, 2 gorgeous babies and 2 husbands present. The day flew by so fast I felt as if it had just begun when I waved them goodbye. My mouth was dry from all the chatting, and my eyes wet from watching some brilliant demonstrations at the torch.
My highlights of the demonstrations:
1. Manda (www.mangobeads.co.uk) made a Folklore bead. It really demonstrated the level of glass control and precision needed to make such stunning little pieces of art.
2. Sabine (www.littlecastledesigns.co.uk) whisked up a rose and a kala with a flair and speed that can only come from practise - and talent. It was a joy to see.
Luckily everybody seemed to enjoy the veggie lasagne I had prepared for lunch (phew) and I didn't see anyone empty their cups of tea into the plant pots
The last couple of days I have ignored housework and enjoyed myself in my little workshop. I have realised I need to practise basic techniques like applying dots and stringer, control the melting in stages, and I have also enjoyed using presses. Earlier I bought two splendid tutorials from Sarah Hornik and Anne Ricketts, and combined they've inspired me to make these two sets:

And now I have an appointment with the supermarket and then with the vacuum cleaner - have a lovely day, everyone!

Have moved my initial trials of a blog..

Have moved my blog to blogspot - this was originally posted on September 2, 2008:

Just thought I'd show a bracelet I've made with my sister-in-law in mind. It took me quite some time and a lot more than the shown beads to get 7 similarly sized and of a quality I can be happy with.

Now that everything gets back into a routine again I shall be able to spend more time in my little studio, so looking forward to it!! However, the first 2 schooldays I have to spend on cleaning house and tidy my workspace. I have 5-6 lampworkers coming for a "Glassy Meet" at my place, and neither house nor studio are fit to show off.... I am so excited to see these wonderful, talented and warm-hearted people again, and I'll let you know how it went... Take care!
